Tick Control

Helping to keep your family and pets safe and healthy

Ixodes scapularis

Tick borne diseases present a real danger to your families’ health. The Black legged tick, also known as the Deer Tick, is the transmitter of such diseases as Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, and Babesiosis. Though the latter two diseases are relatively uncommon, they can negatively affect your health and well being. Lyme disease is the most common tick borne disease.

Southern NH is the epicenter a drastic increase in new cases of Lyme disease (see the maps below). The population of Black Legged ticks is increasing at an exponential rate. We have more ticks around us than 10 years ago and therefore more disease vectors.

Our tick control programs will reduce the population of ticks in your yard and reduce your exposure to this debilitating disease.

How often do you treat my yard? We spray monthly beginning in early April. Ticks are active in temperatures above 40F.

We don’t have many deer in our yard. Do we still have Deer Ticks? Yes you do. The majority of ticks are found on mice, squirrels, raccoons, possum, and birds. The mice and other rodents get them close to the house, and even into the house. The deer are like the bus system carrying and spreading them over large areas.

Can my dog get Lyme disease? Yes dogs, cats, goats, horses can all get Lyme disease.

Is the application safe? I wouldn’t put anything on your lawn that I wouldn’t use on my own lawn. Our main products are synthetic reproductions of pyrethrin which is derived from the Chrysanthemum. We apply according to the labeled instructions and expect you to follow our aftercare instructions.

Is it expensive? The treatment is far less costly than the disease….

Mosquito Control

Helping to keep your family and pets safe and healthy

Culex Pipens

Mosquitoes not only can infect us with deadly diseases, they also ruin the daily enjoyment of our yard!

A mosquito is a type of fly in the order Dyptera. They rely on a blood meal from a warm blooded animal, YOU, to get enough proteins in their system to lay eggs. While they are searching for you they will also feed on whatever warm blooded animals they come across, deer, horses, rodents, pets, and fowl. Eastern Equine Encephalitis is a rare but very serious viral disease that affects both people and horses. It is almost always fatal. West Nile virus is another fatal mosquito borne virus that can be contracted by a bite from an infected mosquito. Links below will give you more information about these diseases.

I got into mosquito control because I was sick and tired of not being able to enjoy dinner on my back patio (I have a rather nice back yard complete with a golf green). The kids wouldn’t play on the swingset, sandbox, or outside on the lawn because we were getting eaten alive! After I started treating the property, we now regularly enjoy outside meals and activities.

Mosquitoes are easy to control with a bi-weekly spray, like I do in my own yard. Sign up now and start enjoying your yard today. You can call us at 1-800-322-1951, by e-mail erik@iwantgreengrass.com or follow this link for a FREE ESTIMATE.
