What’s Growing On? – 2017

Yes! Green Grass is now 25 years old! Where did the time go? I enjoy treating everyone’s lawn and trees today as much as I did 25 years ago. Why? Because I have a passion for growing fine landscapes. I still have almost all of the first accounts that I signed up in the first year of operation! You have all become part of my family, and I look forward to seeing you whenever I can.

Lawn and tree care excites me, there is always something new on the horizon. Unfortunately, that usually involves an invasive pest! We have seen an explosion in the tick population in the past 3 years, hence the expansion of the Tick Control Program. Mosquitoes are terrible and I enjoy giving folks a mosquito-free yard to enjoy. Starting last year, we saw an influx of Winter Moth, mostly in the Hampton and North Hampton area but I expect they will move up as far as Dover this year.

As I write this, spring is about 10 weeks away. I can’t wait! I love the first signs of spring. Crocus could be poking their early heads out with-in the next few weeks. The birds return and start their morning songs. Not long after that, the maple trees flower, daffodils sprout, and then the races are off….

25 Years Valuable Experience badgeThis newsletter will again try to persuade more of you to take part in the Tick Control Program. It is so easy for me to reduce your risk against these insects. In four applications and I can reduce the population in your yard by 90-95%. The spirochete bacteria, which ticks carry and causes Lyme disease, is being tied to a great many of preventable diseases. Let me help you reduce your risk to this insect.

My two beautiful girls are both at UNH now. Eilise didn’t like the small school atmosphere at St. Anselm even though she liked her major program. She is happily settled in and enjoying seeing more of her friends at UNH. There is a great deal of pride sending my daughter to a school where I am an alumni. Ceara is set to Graduate from UNH this spring. This fall she once again qualified to go the World Irish Dance Championships! She qualified while also pulling down a perfect 4.0 for her degree in Ap-plied Mathematics in Economics. Yep, I’m proud of both my girls.

I look forward to seeing you out on the lawn.
